Rapid diagnostic tests are a necessity for quick and effective diagnosis of malaria where microscopic services are not available. RDTs can detect and distinguish between proteins produced by malaria parasites in human blood from a finger prick. Affordable and designed for use in malaria endemic areas with a lack of health systems, RDTs offer accurate diagnosis to all at-risk populations.
MENTOR train health workers in the use of RDTs as well as how to store and transport them correctly. Through a developed plan of management before an RDT distribution, MENTOR ensure that health workers are skilled and proficient in performing the test, interpreting the result and acting upon it.
